From one of Alsace's greatest producers comes a wine of profound complexity—Zind-Humbrecht's Clos Windsbuhl Vendange Tardive 2005, over 20 years into age, in a precious 375ml format. This is Gewürztraminer at its noblest: late-harvest grapes from limestone-rocky soils in Hunawihr achieve a balance between opulent ripeness and crystalline minerality. Rose, lychee, cardamom, and ginger perfume the glass; the palate offers peach, apple, vanilla, and warm spice underpinned by the sharp mineral contours that Muschelkalk imparts. Noble sweetness, yes—but checked always by stimulating acidity that keeps the wine playful and alive.
