Alexandre Lamblot represents the 13th generation of his family to farm in Champagne, working roughly 3.5 hectares biodynamically across Vrigny, Gueux, Chenay, and Janvry on the northern edge of the Montagne de Reims. He apprenticed with Jérôme Prévost — that pedigree alone tells you the project. Les Côtes Chéries is a single-vineyard cuvée from a parcel of 100% Meunier in Gueux planted in 1984, vinified naturally with no added yeast and aged in part in sandstone jars. Brut Nature, disgorged in 2024, this is Champagne without makeup: floral and saline, with orchard fruit, brioche from autolysis, and the mineral grip that distinguishes serious Meunier from the easygoing version. For the grower-Champagne crowd, this is the real conversation.

"Exclusively crafted from the 2019 vintage, Lamblot's NV Brut Nature Les Côtes Chéries is sourced from a vineyard in Gueux, near the lieu-dit Les Béguines, where Pinot Meunier was planted in 1984 on a very deep sandy soil and was once home to cherry trees. Vinified for two years in 600-liter demi-muids made from Bertranges forest oak, the wine reveals a deep bouquet of pear, tangerine zest, mirabelle plum and spices. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied and concentrated yet elegant, with a pillowy mousse, finishing with a sapid, mineral aftertaste. Compared to Frénésie, it is more seamless and complete. It was disgorged in April 2024." —Kristaps Karklins

More about A. Lamblot

Alexandre Lamblot is the 13th generation of his family making wine and honestly, he's operating like he invented something new. He's got 4 hectares in Montagne de Reims, fertilizes with a mobile chicken coop, braids his vines' shoots to trade heat in winter, and ferments each plot separately in a wooden basket press—all by hand. No sulfites, no fining, no shortcuts. The result? Bone-dry champagnes with real soul, and he's got some serious friends in New York backing him up already.

What has to say about this wine:

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

An aperitif first, but built for the table — oysters, raw bar, fried chicken, sushi, or a wheel of soft-rind cheese. Also strong with mushroom risotto or roast chicken with truffle.

Tasting Profile

Pear, white peach, and lemon zest meet white flowers, brioche, and a saline, almost flinty minerality. Bone dry, fine bead, vibrant acid line; texture from sandstone-jar aging gives it length and grip. Serious grower Champagne.

Champagne

Champagne boasts some of the world’s greatest luxury brands with Krug, Cristal and, of course, Dom Perignon. But it’s also home to hundreds of small dynamic producers—farmers who grow their own grapes (often organically) and make (often with natural methods) tiny amounts of pure and absolutely delicious wine that reflect the individual personalities of their villages and terroirs. Toast with these wines, for sure. But also treat them like the great wines they are: taste, drink, explore!
