A decadent, fully mature dessert wine from one of Alsace's biodynamic benchmarks. Selection des Grains Nobles is the pinnacle of Alsace sweet wine, made from botrytis-shriveled berries picked individually, like a great Sauternes. This Pinot Gris comes from the Altenbourg lieu-dit in Kientzheim, the slope sitting just below the Grand Cru Furstentum, where the rich soils push Pinot Gris toward honeyed opulence. Albert Mann, run by the Barthelme brothers and certified organic since 2000, made this in 1998, and it has aged into something profound. Serve well chilled in small pours; a little goes a long way.
