Chambolle-Musigny that drinks above its station: Les Bussieres sits on the border with Morey-Saint-Denis, sharing the elevation and exposure of Morey's premier cru row, so this village wine carries more weight and structure than the appellation usually promises. Anne and Herve Sigaut farm about seven hectares from old vines, organically, working their clay-limestone soils with a light touch and indigenous-yeast fermentations. The 2010 vintage gave Burgundy classically built reds with fine acidity and real aging potential, and these old-vine Bussieres were made for the long haul. More than a decade on, it should be entering a lovely mature window - perfumed, silky, resolved.

More about Anne et Herve Sigaut

Domaine Anne & Hervé Sigaut runs a seven-hectare estate in Chambolle-Musigny where most parcels are still plowed by horse and many processes align with lunar phases. Hervé and Anne took over in 1990 (fourth generation), practicing organic then biodynamic farming, using 100% destemmed fruit, and capping new oak at 40%. These are Pinots that 'caress rather than clobber'—elegant, mineral, made by people who understand finesse on a molecular level.
