A Jacquère raised partly in terracotta amphora, which is an unusual move for a grape most growers treat as simple stainless-steel refreshment — the clay gives it a little more grip and a longer, chalkier finish without adding a scrap of oak flavor. The fruit is from Chignin, where the vines sit on steep limestone scree around 370 meters below the Bauges massif, facing the Belledonne range; part of the vineyard is worked by animal traction. Anne-Sophie Quénard has led the estate since 2020, the first woman in a family that has farmed this hillside since 1644, with organic certification completed in 2024. Picked by hand, fermented with native yeasts, split between tank and amphora. If you like Chablis, Muscadet or dry Loire whites for their salinity rather than their fruit, this is the alpine version, and it drinks best in its first few years.

Flatiron's Take

From the Importer

What has to say about this wine:

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Oysters and raw shellfish first, then goat cheese, smoked trout, or a green salad with plenty of herbs. It is also a fine aperitif on its own and a good foil for fondue.

Tasting Profile

Citrus zest, green pear, white flowers and wet stone, with a faint herbal note like alpine meadow. Light-bodied, bone dry and racy, with a chalky grip from the amphora aging that gives the mid-palate more substance than you expect. Long, salty finish.
