The domaine's calling card, assembled from five parcels on both sides of the town, which is the point: it is the fullest statement of house style rather than of any single site. Charles Ballot took over his family's ten hectares in 2000 and pushed the estate toward the racier, more tensile school of Meursault, away from the heavy, nutty style that once defined the village. That means hand harvesting, plowed soils instead of herbicides, native-yeast fermentation, very little new oak, no batonnage whatsoever, and twelve months in barrel followed by six in tank to settle. 2024 was one of the hardest growing seasons in recent memory in the Cote de Beaune, with persistent rain, heavy mildew pressure and a small crop, and the whites that came through show purity and zesty freshness instead of weight. Drink it over the next five to eight years.
