Narvaux sits higher up the slope than Meursault's famous Premier Crus, on a thin rocky shelf directly above Genevrieres, and it gives a firmer, stonier wine than a village-level Meursault usually manages. The soil is calcareous with almost no clay and barely any topsoil before bedrock; Ballot-Millot's parcel lies at the lower edge, right against Genevrieres, on iron-rich red earth, from vines between forty-five and sixty years old. The altitude keeps the site cool, and Charles Ballot has cut yields to around 40 hectoliters per hectare to coax full ripeness out of it, which is why the wine comes out citrusy and firm rather than plush. Farming is hand-worked and herbicide-free, fermentation runs on native yeasts, and the whites see little new oak, no batonnage, twelve months in barrel and six in tank. 2024 delivered a small crop after a wet, mildew-heavy season, with whites built on purity and tension. Give it two or three years in bottle; it will drink well for a decade.

"The 2024 Meursault Narvaux comes from the lieu-dit of Narvaux Dessus. This was more reductive on the nose at the time of tasting as the lees were still in movement in the tanks. Quite toasty at the moment. The palate is again a bit reductive on the entry, good weight with a keen line of acidity and it feels quite powerful on the finish.
