Barale Fratelli is the largest owner of Castellero, the Barolo cru just east of legendary Cannubi, and this is their flagship site. The family has farmed traditionally since the 1870s and famously never uses barrique, leaning on native-yeast ferments and long macerations to capture terroir, not technique. Decades on, this 1985 sits firmly in mature, tertiary territory. From a private cellar, so condition varies; decant gently and enjoy in the near term.
