It wears its ripeness on its sleeve, with forward aromas of red cherry coulis and spiced plum. An earthy background of medicinal herbs bestows welcome gravitas, and the substantial juicy fruitiness almost obscures fine-boned, elegant tannins for the time being. More about Baricci

Nello Baricci was the first producer to get badge #1 when the Brunello Consorzio formed in 1967—a master of Sangiovese before most people even knew the word. His grandsons Federico and Francesco continue making wine from the only vineyard wholly planted in the Montosoli 'Grand Cru'—five hectares of cooler-climate Sangiovese that age in Slavonian oak with understated elegance. It's a lesson in terroir humility.
