Basil Hayden's is a high-rye bourbon that proves restraint is strength. At 80 proof, it prioritizes refinement over proof—the expression that made Booker Noe's Small Batch collection legendary in 1992. The mash bill uses twice the rye of standard Jim Beam bourbon, giving the whiskey spicy notes and a sophisticated profile that's never harsh. Eight years in American white oak rounds out the edges, yielding charred oak, brown sugar, black pepper, and dried fruit in elegant balance. Named after a distiller who favored higher rye ratios, Basil Hayden's is the lightest-bodied bourbon in the Jim Beam small-batch family—a collection that also includes Knob Creek, Booker's, and Baker's. Created in 1992 by 6th-generation Master Distiller Booker Noe, it weighs in at 80 proof, using Jim Beam's high-rye mashbill. It's approachable without compromising character—proof that restraint in spirits can be a statement.
