Bodegas Barbadillo’s Solear Manzanilla is a classic expression of Manzanilla, a unique style of Sherry made in the coastal town of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. Aged under a layer of flor (a natural yeast that forms during aging), this Sherry is light, refreshing, and characterized by its distinctive saline and mineral qualities.

The nose is fresh and fragrant, with aromas of green apple, lemon zest, and a touch of brine that immediately evoke the sea. On the palate, Solear Manzanilla is crisp and dry, with a clean, zesty acidity that is balanced by the subtle, delicate flavors of almonds and a hint of florality. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with a refreshing salinity that lingers, making it an excellent companion to seafood, tapas, or light appetizers.

Whether enjoyed as an aperitif or paired with dishes like oysters, shrimp, or marinated olives, Solear Manzanilla is a versatile and food-friendly Sherry that embodies the essence of Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

Jancis Robinson

16.5 points

"Six years old. Very pale and slightly greenish. Lively, bready, feather-light on the palate. Super-appetising. So gulpable! Difficult to believe it’s as old as six…"

Wine Spectator

90 points

"Very high-pitched, with bright chalk, chamomile, salt and lemon seed notes. The vigorous finish has serious cut. Drink now."

More about Bodegas Barbadillo

Founded in 1821 by Benigno Barbadillo, an entrepreneur from Burgos who made his fortune in Mexico, Barbadillo is the biggest Manzanilla producer and one of the biggest sherry houses overall. They own 500 hectares of vines, vinify all their own base wines, and age them in historic bodegas. Solear Manzanilla—their signature—set the template for everything that followed. Available in 50+ countries, they celebrated their 200th anniversary in 2021.
