Claudio Boggione is a secret Barolo producer with just one hectare of land—a production so small it needs no distribution. A few in-the-know fans simply drive to his tiny winery and ask to buy a case or two, and that's how the entire crop sells. But his single hectare sits in the sweetest spot of the great Brunate cru, that famous high-altitude site straddling Barolo and La Morra, organically farmed on vines planted some 60 years ago. A staunch traditionalist, Boggione makes one wine, and it needs time. This back-vintage 2011 from a private cellar has had it—a rare chance to drink a true micro-grower Brunate now in its stride.
