Textbook Barolo from the village at the centre of the appellation. Castiglione Falletto sits between the two sides of the Barolo zone and shares traits of both, and this cuvée is Boroli's take on that middle ground. It's a selection of Nebbiolo from the family's own Castiglione Falletto sites, south- and southwest-facing vines on clay-limestone planted in the 1970s and '80s, and it came out of years of mapping those vineyards parcel by parcel. In the Boroli lineup it sits a step above the classic Barolo and just below the single-vineyard bottlings. That makes it a sweet spot for anyone who wants a Barolo from a single village without paying single-vineyard prices. The work is meticulous: each micro-parcel is hand-picked into small crates and fermented on its own before the lots are blended. 2022 was a warm, sunny year in Barolo. Give it time, or decant it well if you open it young.
