One of Burgundy's most storied monopoles, in a structured vintage. The Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus — "vine of the Infant Jesus" — is a roughly four-hectare walled parcel sitting at the heart of Beaune-Grèves, owned outright by Bouchard Père et Fils since 1791, when the family bought it from the Carmelite order after the French Revolution. The name traces back to a 17th-century Carmelite nun who reportedly predicted the birth of Louis XIV. Bouchard, founded 1731, was acquired in 2022 by Artémis Domaines, the Pinault family group also behind Eisele, Clos de Tart, and Henri Rebourseau. 2019 was a concentrated, ripe, structured Burgundy vintage — this bottle is youthful, dense, and built for the cellar.

"Beaune Grèves Premier Cru is often described as among the best of the premier cru vineyards in Beaune. This Bouchard monopole is the heart of the vineyard, situated mid-slope, with plenty of gravel in the soil to ensure good drainage. The fruit ripened early and well in 2019, and the results were delicious, with a very floral cast to the ripe black cherry fruit aromas. The wine fills the mouth, with velvety tannins, and it lingers to a delightfully complex finish."
