Beurer, Rose, 2025

Rosé Wine from Other Germany, Germany

Pink wine from one of Germany's most quietly serious biodynamic addresses. Jochen Beurer farms 13 hectares around Kernen in the Rems Valley of Württemberg, Demeter-certified since 2012, with the same fanaticism for native yeast and terroir-precision he applies to his celebrated dry Rieslings. This rosé is built mostly on Trollinger (Schiava to the south) with cameos from Zweigelt, Spätburgunder and Portugieser, drawn from the same limestone, sandstone, and Keuper soils that feed his reds. The result is a dry, racy, gastronomic rosé with the kind of cut and detail you simply do not find in most of the category. A rosé that drinks like a small white Burgundy with a faint blush.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Charcuterie and saucisson, a tarte flambée with crème fraiche and smoky bacon, pan-seared trout with brown butter, vitello tonnato, summer vegetable tarts, smoked salmon, and warm goat cheese salads with toasted walnuts.

Tasting Profile

Dry and bone-bright, with wild strawberry, watermelon rind, pink grapefruit zest, and a mineral, almost saline finish. Light-bodied and snappy. Refreshing with real cut, real precision, and real length.

WINE GUIDES

German Wines

Is there a better grape than Riesling? Is there a better value? Its fruit purity, its perfume, and its mineral nuance are all unparalleled. And for centuries, the top German Rieslings were priced accordingly: at least as expensive as the top red wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy. But nowadays you could spend a lifetime exploring Germany’s great Riesling-producing regions while staying well within your budget. You might take an occasional break to try Germany’s other white grapes or perhaps a glass of Spätburgunder (the local name for Pinot Noir). It’s time to get started!
