Carl Loewen's Thörnicher Ritsch is one of the steepest and least-planted sites in the Mosel — a slate-and-quartzite vineyard that the estate has been reclaiming and farming with extraordinary care. As a Grosses Gewächs, this is Christopher Loewen's driest and most serious Riesling — fully fermented to bone dry, expressing the site's intense mineral character without any sweetness to soften the edge. The 2023 vintage brought good ripeness and clean acidity to the Mosel, and Ritsch GG wears it beautifully. This is a wine for people who want German Riesling at its most serious and terroir-specific.
