Traditional cru Barbaresco from a tiny Barbaresco estate (Strada Bernini) that flies criminally under the radar. Cascina Morassino was founded in 1984 by Mauro Bianco and is now run by son Roberto, working just 4.5 hectares across Barbaresco's Ovello sub-zone and a small parcel in Neive. The Morassino bottling is the family's home cru — Nebbiolo aged roughly a year in large old casks, kept honest and transparent. The cool, classical 2021 vintage was tailor-made for this style: pale ruby, deeply perfumed, with rose petal, dried cherry, woodland strawberry, and the elegant tar-and-tobacco depth that good Barbaresco grows into. Long, sappy, beautifully proportioned. A purist's bottle from a family that has been quietly making serious wine in Barbaresco for decades.
