Benoit's Pinot Noir from Courbes Raies shows how Burgundian training applies to Jura's distinctive terroir. Whole-bunch vinification in large Grenier tronconic vats followed by aging in barrels and demi-muids creates structured, mineral wine shaped by soil and site. Old vine material (mid-1980s back to 1959) provides depth; fossilized mollusk-bearing limestone provides mineral tension. This is not Burgundy, but carefully considered Jura Pinot that respects both the variety's elegance and the site's specific character.

"The 2023 Pinot Noir Courbes Raies comes from a mixture of older and younger vines on adjacent plots, 0.2 hectares of old vines and 0.3 hectares of younger ones, vinified together. The barrels I tasted last year were quite different, so I was curious to taste the bottled wine. It has a more varietal profile, clean and balanced, quite straightforward." —Luis Gutiérrez
