Walter Channing planted the first Chardonnay vines in Bridgehampton, Long Island in 1982—choosing the Hamptons' South Fork over the flatter North Fork fields. The Brick Kiln block sits on Bridgehampton Silt Loam with a distinctive 8-inch vein of blue-grey clay 30 inches down. Winemaker Christopher Tracy joined in 2001. Sustainable Long Island Winegrowing certified; they recycle 100% of grape pomace into 40 tons of compost annually. Named for Brick Kiln Road, which references historic clay mining for Sag Harbor bricks.

More about Channing Daughters

The first thing you notice about Christopher Tracy, winemaker at Long Island's Channing Daughters, is his enthusiasm and sense of wonder. Whether discussing semi-carbonic Dornfelder, his new label designs, or introducing you to his picking team, his joy is infectious.

Drinking his wines is no different. Each one of his 30 cuvées is a microcosm of terroir using a slew of non-dogmatic traditional methods. That's right, 30 cuvées. Each of them thoughtful, intentional, fascinating--joyful.
