More about Chartreuse

Carthusian monks have guarded a secret recipe since 1605—130 different herbs, plants, and flowers created by a medieval alchemist as an 'elixir for long life.' Today, two monks at Grande Chartreuse are the only ones who know it. Green Chartreuse (developed in 1840) remains the original herbal liqueur: intense, green, complex, utterly unique. 30% botanicals sourced from Italy, Switzerland, and France; 70% from elsewhere. Made in Aiguenoire, France by monks who have never and will never reveal the formula. The epitome of institutional mystery in a bottle.
