The 2010 comes from one of Bordeaux's legendary modern years, a dry, sunny growing season that delivered wines of remarkable concentration, structure and freshness all at once. A Second Growth in Saint-Estephe, the Medoc's firmest commune, Cos pairs that classic backbone with an unusually high Merlot component for the left bank, here under a Cabernet Sauvignon lead. The pagoda-topped chateau is one of Bordeaux's icons. The 2010 is built for the long haul, still tightly wound; decant it for hours or, better, lay it down.
