Château de Fosse-Sèche is one of the most quietly radical domaines in the Loire, farming biodynamically on ancient Jurassic limestone and making wines that feel like they come from another realm. Arcane is their flagship white, a 100% Chenin Blanc from high-altitude, fossil-rich soils in Saumur, made with zero additions and aged in concrete eggs to preserve purity and energy. The 2022 vintage is especially charged—radiant, salty, and full of pulse.

You get pear skin, green plum, and lemon pith wrapped in smoky mineral tones, dried flowers, and a little flint. The palate is structured but agile, with racy acidity, a waxy texture, and a long, stony finish that hums rather than shouts. This isn’t Chenin for the faint of heart—it’s for people who like their whites alive, raw, and full of intent. Serve it with time, air, and something from the sea. Or nothing at all.
