Chateau Mont-Redon is one of the grand old names of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, a historic estate with one of the largest holdings in the appellation, its vineyards carpeted in the famous galets roules, the big rounded stones that store the day's heat. The 2009 came from a warm, ripe Southern Rhone vintage, and this Grenache-led blend now drinks with mellow, savory maturity, the generous fruit framed by the garrigue and spice that define classic Chateauneuf. Decant and serve with a hearty meal.
