A third-generation family vineyard that exemplifies the quality possible from Médoc's gravel-dominated soils. This blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petite Verdot was aged 14 months in barrel with 30% new oak, resulting in beautiful ruby color with cherry reflections. The crisp, focused bouquet offers pure blackberry and boysenberry notes with crushed stone minerality, while the palate is well-balanced and silky with fine acidity and black cherry and blueberry tones. A feminine-styled wine of real finesse, it earned the prestigious Coupe des Crus Bourgeois award and drinks beautifully now.

Antonio Galloni

90 points

"The 2016 Poitevin has a crisp, focused bouquet with pure blackberry and boysenberry notes tinged with crushed stone. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, quite feminine in style with a silky smooth, black cherry and blueberry finish that caresses the senses. This is a well-crafted, utterly delicious Médoc."

Robert Parker

90 points

"Revealing scents of sweet red berries, plums, petals and tobacco leaf, the 2016 Poitevin is medium-bodied, supple and perfumed, with a fleshy core of succulent, vibrant fruit, melting tannins and an expansive finish. It's an elegant, seamless wine from this 40-hectare estate." —William Kelley

Wine Enthusiast

88 points

"This wine's spicy aromas indicate the considerable wood aging that shows strongly. However, the good news is that there is also plenty of ripe blackberry fruit that will develop well as the wine ages. Give this well-structured wine until 2022 before drinking." —Roger Voss
