One of the smallest classed growths in Saint-Julien, Château Saint-Pierre consistently overdelivers, and in the warm, concentrated 2022 vintage, it shows depth, precision, and unmistakable Left Bank poise. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the charge here, bolstered by Merlot and a small touch of Cabernet Franc, all from gravelly soils that lend natural structure and aromatic lift.

The nose is dense but elegant: cassis, black cherry, cedar, and crushed graphite with subtle violet and cocoa. The palate is full and firmly built, with polished tannins, fine acidity, and a long, mineral-driven finish. There’s a seriousness to this wine, but it never feels heavy—just finely tuned and impressively balanced.

While youthful now, it will reward 8–20 years of cellaring, or shine in the near term with decanting and thoughtful pairings—think roast beef, grilled lamb, or mushroom-based dishes. Château Saint-Pierre 2022 is a quiet standout—confident, composed, and deeply Saint-Julien.

Antonio Galloni

"The 2022 Saint-Pierre was picked 12-26 September at around 35hL/ha and matured in 48% new oak. It has an intense bouquet with black cherries, iodine and touches of blood orange. Delineated and focused. The palate is where the action is with gorgeous svelte tannins, perfectly judged acidity, harmonious, plush but not overbearing. Velvety toward the finish, yet there is real tenderness here. It actually is reminiscent of Las-Cases at the moment." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

"Aromas of cassis, blackberries, pencil shavings and licorice introduce the 2022 Saint-Pierre, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and suave wine that's rich but integrated, concluding with a clean, gently tannic finish. A touch less flamboyant than this estate could be in the past, it's a more classical expression of this estate." —William Kelley

"Smells dark and deep; dark chocolate, savoury liquorice spice and ripe fruit. Joyously fruity and juicy on the palate with a salty tang that really carries the freshness and sense of minerality. I love the frame and the flavour with intensely grippy tannins but it works, excellently presented with flow and movement, direction and finesse. Cool and classic with great mineral markers of salt, liquorice and crushed stones. Feels sophisticated and really compelling, a great surprise and top buy. 2% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Harvest 12-26 September. Yield of 34hl/ha. " —Georgina Hindle
