Le Lucciole, meaning the fireflies, is Chiara Condello's flagship. The wine comes from a single 0.8-hectare parcel in the heart of Predappio, planted at 250 meters on the spungone-rich soils that have made this sub-zone Romagna's most respected. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically; fermentation is spontaneous in open-top wood and tonneaux, with 45 days of maceration, followed by two years in used Slavonian botti and a year in bottle. The result is a Sangiovese of remarkable depth and clarity, the kind of wine that puts Predappio in the same conversation as the best Chianti Classico crus. Concentrated yet elegant, structured for the long haul, and unmistakably a place-driven wine.

Chiara Condello is Predappio's rising star, farming seven hectares biodynamically in the Romagna Sangiovese zone and making wine the old way: native yeasts, open-top wooden vats, long skin maceration, whole-cluster ferments. Her two wines—the 'normale' and the single-vineyard Le Lucciole—prove that Romagna Sangiovese can be as sophisticated and age-worthy as its Tuscan cousins. She's 35 and rewriting the rulebook.
