Romagna is finally getting its due, and Chiara Condello is at the center of the conversation. From her family's vineyards in Predappio, the most respected sub-zone of the region, she crafts Sangiovese that earns comparison to top Chianti Classico and Brunello. The village-level Predappio cuvee draws from three parcels of clay-limestone and spungone, the porous shell-rich sandstone that defines the area. Made from 100% Sangiovese, fermented spontaneously and aged in large neutral Slavonian botti, this is a serious, restrained wine that delivers cherry fruit, herbs, and chalky minerality. In magnum, the slower oxygen exchange promises an even longer evolution. A benchmark Romagna Sangiovese in a format built for the cellar and the table alike.
