La Dot is a love letter in a bottle: named for the dowry Marie-Elodie Zighera's grandmother received, it's her flagship Fleurie from 50-year-old vines on decomposed pink granite near the Morgon border. Marie-Elodie revived her family's multi-generational Fleurie estate in 2006 with a fanatical focus on the vineyard, and La Dot, partly barrel-aged, is a denser, darker, more structured style of Gamay. The 2011, from a warm vintage and now mature, drinks with depth and savory complexity. Lovely now.
