A back-vintage Barolo with more than four decades behind it, from the great Monfalletto hill in La Morra. Cordero di Montezemolo farms a rare single-block of vineyard wrapping the whole Monfalletto rise, and Barolo bottled in the early 1980s came from a more traditional, less-polished era of the estate's history. At this age the wine has shed every bit of youthful tannin and moved fully into its mature, tertiary phase. This is a Barolo for drinking now, not cellaring further, and for lovers of old Nebbiolo who prize savory complexity over primary fruit. Sourced from a private collection, so condition and fill will reflect its age.

Tasting Profile

Fully mature Nebbiolo. Bricked color, soft resolved tannins, with dried cherry, leather, tar, and forest-floor notes. Delicate and savory rather than fruity, with a gentle dried-rose lift.
