Eighth-generation La Morra Barolo, made by a winemaker who knows his patch by heart. The Alessandria family has farmed in La Morra for at least eight generations; Crissante Alessandria founded the eponymous cantina in 1958, and today his grandson Alberto runs the cellar with classical-leaning instincts. The Barolo del Comune di La Morra is exactly what its name promises: a multi-parcel blend from across the village, designed to express La Morra's signature charm rather than any single MGA. The 2021 vintage delivered finely balanced, perfumed Barolos with old-school energy, and this one is a textbook read — rose petal, sour cherry, tar, dried herbs, and the silky, perfumed tannins La Morra does better than anyone. A perfect introduction to Crissante's house style, and a deeply gratifying Barolo to drink across the next decade.

"The 2021 Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a superb appellation-level wine. Floral and silky on the palate, with fabulous persistence, the 2021 exudes class from start to finish. This has come together beautifully over the last year or so. Specifically, the tannins that were a bit troublesome before have begun to integrate into the wine's fabric. The essence of La Morra in a glass." —Antonio Galloni

"The Crissante Alessandria 2021 Barolo del Comune di La Morra blends Lampia and Michet to produce a classic and well-proportioned expression of the vintage. Brilliant ruby in color, the wine shows depth and energy with crunchy fruit, balanced alcohol and chalky tannins that provide both freshness and structure. Naturally fermented and put aside for a long resting time in bottle, the wine reflects La Morra’s mineral-rich soils and water-retentive conditions, which lend tension and vitality. This is an 18,000-bottle release." —Monica Larner

"Alberto Alessandria approaches fermentation as an infusion rather than a maceration. He tries to retain whole berries, giving delicate pump-overs to keep the cap bathed. His objective is finesse over power. Taking Roggeri as its base with equal portions from Bricco San Biagio and Bettolotti, his village Barolo adeptly captures the elegance and fine frame associated with the township. Nuances of strawberry, white pepper, brushwood and crushed allspice are decorous yet unwavering. Soft tannins are talc-like in texture, and acidity lends a citrussy crunch. This expresses itself in its subtleties. Wait – but not too long."

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

Roasted veal, brasato, tajarin with butter and sage, mushroom-stuffed agnolotti, beef tenderloin, or aged Bra and Castelmagno cheeses. A fine match for truffles in any form.

Tasting Profile

Rose petal, sour cherry, dried raspberry, tar and faded violet. La Morra's silken, perfumed style shines through — fine-grained tannins, bright acidity, a savory mid-palate and a long, floral close.
