A back-vintage Hautes-Cotes from one of the region's most committed organic growers. Julien Cruchandeau founded his tiny domaine in 2003 and settled in the high-altitude village of Chaux, farming organically since 2011 with hand-harvesting and native yeasts. Les Valancons is Pinot Noir from the cooler, elevated Hautes-Cotes de Nuits, and 2014 was a bright, energetic Burgundy vintage built on freshness rather than power. At roughly a decade old this is mature and ready, a lovely look at a grower who delivers serious wine from a humble appellation.
