Declassified Italy: Great Wines, Better Values with Ellen, 9/23/2026

$30.00

Embark on a unique journey through Italy’s vineyards to discover what we call 'declassified wines'. Join us on Thursday, September 23 at 6pm on our mezzanine to find out.

Join Ellen Sarembaud, our outstanding sommelier and WSET Level 3 holder. After exploring the identity of 'Vins de France', she will now take us to Italy to discover 'declassified' wines, a world with very different dynamics.

In this class, we’ll explore “declassified” Italian wines- bottles that offer the character, pedigree, and winemaking quality associated with Italy’s most celebrated regions, but often at a much friendlier price. Through a guided tasting, we’ll compare Barolo with Roero, Barbaresco with Langhe Nebbiolo, Brunello di Montalcino with Rosso di Montalcino, and explore two distinct styles of Prosecco.

The goal isn’t simply to find cheaper alternatives. It’s to discover great producers and compelling wines that give you more of the experience for a lower price. We’ll look at why these wines differ, what they share with their more prestigious counterparts, and when choosing the “lesser” appellation might actually be the smarter- and more delicious- choice.

Please join us Thursday, September 23 at 6pm on our mezzanine to discover Italy’s surprising wines.

Seating is limited. Tickets for this class are $30.

Cancellations can be processed for a refund with at least 48 hours' notice before the start of class. See all our policies here.
