Dolcetto done seriously by one of Monforte's understated names. Diego Conterno — a Monforte vigneron (co-founder of Conterno-Fantino in 1982) and not to be confused with Aldo Conterno's estate or Giacomo Conterno of Monfortino — founded his own domaine in Monforte d'Alba in 2003 and now works alongside son Stefano. The estate is certified organic, farmed by hand, and run with the long ferments, large cask aging, and quiet traditionalism Diego learned coming up under Beppe Colla at Prunotto. This Dolcetto comes from the family's Bricco vineyards on Monforte slopes — a fresh, juicy, deep-fruited expression that captures everything we love about the grape. Crunchy black cherry, blueberry, licorice, a flick of bitter almond on the close. A serious house's everyday wine.
