Comtes Lafon’s 2021 Meursault “Clos de la Baronne” is a monopole bottling from a 2.7-hectare site planted to ~45-year-old vines. Organically and biodynamically farmed, it forms the core of the domaine’s Villages Meursault, supplemented by fruit from En la Barre, Luraule, and Crotots.

Fermented with native yeasts and aged in French oak with minimal new wood, the wine is structured and mineral, with firm acidity and layered orchard fruit. In magnum, it offers added ageability and depth.

Antonio Galloni

90 points

"The 2021 Meursault Clos de la Baronne has a clean, well-defined bouquet with orchard fruit and touches of almond and grilled hazelnut. The palate is well balanced, though it just lacks a bit of acidic bite on the finish. This cuvée is exclusive to Grand Cru Selections in the United States." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

90 points

"The 2021 Meursault Clos de la Baronne delivers aromas of pear, toasted nuts and youthful reduction, followed by a medium-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that's a touch more structured than this cuvée tends to be in warmer years." —William Kelley

More about Domaine des Comtes Lafon

A Meursault institution that makes white Burgundy the way it should taste: rich but not heavy, layered but not overwrought. These Chardonnays from the Côte de Beaune sit at the intersection of power and elegance, especially the prized Clos de la Baronne, where the limestone terroir speaks clearly. The house has built its reputation on consistency and refinement—wines that age gracefully and reward patience. If you want to understand what limestone and lees aging can do in the hands of masters, this is where to start.
