This is your entry point into David Croix's world — a village Beaune rouge made with the same care he lavishes on his premier crus, and one of the smartest ways to get to know one of the Côte de Beaune's best young growers. Croix started the domaine in 2005 after years running the cellar at Camille Giroud, and farms organically (since 2008) with very low yields and a light touch in the cellar: ambient yeasts, used barrels, no fining or filtration. 2023 was a ripe, generous vintage in Beaune, and this delivers honest, juicy Pinot Noir with real sense of place. No need to wait — it's delicious now, though it'll hold for a few years. A genuine everyday Burgundy from a serious address.

"An interesting nose of ripe sour cherry candy, earth, spice and violet leads to super-sleek and finer, if less concentrated, flavors that are also seductive and caressing while displaying just a bit more refinement on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finish that is slightly firmer." —Allen Meadows

Antonio Galloni

89 points

"The 2023 Beaune Village has a tertiary bouquet that needs a little coaxing in the glass, displaying a slight pepperiness even though there is nary a stem here. The palate is medium-bodied with black pepper and balsamic-tinged fruit, light tannins and a brisk, easygoing finish. Fine." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

91 points

"The 2023 Beaune Village is rich and muscular, exhibiting aromas of dark berries, spices and orange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and youthfully tannic palate." —William Kelley

More about Domaine des Croix

If you aren't with familiar with Domaine des Croix, there is one thing you should know: we love David Croix! He begin his winemaking career straight out of viticulture school when he took over the reigns at Camille Giroud (as well as working with Guy Roulot), when he was just 24 years old. In 2016 he quit his day job to focus entirely on his own small domaine, which he purchased back in 2005.
