What is this wine?
Domaine des Croix, led by David Croix (formerly of Camille Giroud), is a highly regarded estate based in Beaune, known for precise, terroir-driven Pinot Noir. The domaine’s holdings span Beaune, Aloxe-Corton, and Corton, with careful organic farming and restrained élevage. Les Grèves is a Grand Cru climat on the Corton hill, producing structured yet elegant Pinot Noir. The 2022 vintage was generous and ripe but balanced, yielding wines of both fruit intensity and clarity.

Why get this wine?
This is Grand Cru Burgundy from one of the most thoughtful vignerons of his generation. Croix’s style emphasizes finesse and transparency over extraction, making this Corton Les Grèves especially refined. In 2022, it combines richness with freshness, making it approachable earlier while still promising decades of aging potential.

What does this wine taste like?
Concentrated red and black cherry with notes of raspberry, spice, and rose petal. Undertones of earth, graphite, and mineral. Medium to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a long, lifted finish.

When should you drink this wine?
Enjoyable young with decanting, but best cellared 8–20 years for full complexity. Ideal with roast duck, lamb, or dishes featuring mushrooms and truffles.

"The 2022 Beaune Village, which was aged in a new foudres plus three used oak barrels, was taken from tank, having been racked two weeks ago. This has a lovely rose petal and incense-infused bouquet that blossoms in the glass - very pure fruit. The palate is well-balanced, and the 30% whole bunches seamlessly integrated. There’s very good weight with black plum and a pinch of white pepper on the finish." —Vinous

More about Domaine des Croix

If you aren't with familiar with Domaine des Croix, there is one thing you should know: we love David Croix! He begin his winemaking career straight out of viticulture school when he took over the reigns at Camille Giroud (as well as working with Guy Roulot), when he was just 24 years old. In 2016 he quit his day job to focus entirely on his own small domaine, which he purchased back in 2005.
