Domaine du Banneret is one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape's true traditionalist holdouts — a tiny estate whose roots trace back centuries, where production rarely tops a thousand cases and is often far less. What sets it apart: Banneret interplants and co-ferments all thirteen of the appellation's authorized grape varieties, a genuine rarity. The reds are made the old way — whole-cluster, co-fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete, long macerations, then aged in barrel. This is the 2010, a benchmark Châteauneuf vintage celebrated for its freshness and structure, now beautifully mature. It's an increasingly hard-to-find chance to drink classic, full-bodied Châteauneuf with real age on it. Decant generously and serve with a substantial meal.
