The flagship of Domaine du Pégau blends 13 varieties (primarily Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre) from pebble-, clay-, and limestone-covered soils. Aged two years in 50 hL old oak, this full-bodied wine displays spicy aromas of cassis, toasted herbs, pepper, and roasted meat, with secondary leather, licorice, black pepper, clove, and iron on the palate. A structured, velvety wine built to evolve—expect another 12 to 15 years of development in the cellar.
