Domaine Jean Chauvenet, founded in 1964 and run since 1994 by son-in-law Christophe Drag, makes structured, transparent, age-worthy Nuits. Les Damodes sits at the northern, higher edge of the appellation near the Vosne border, which tends to give a more perfumed, elegant style than NSG's burlier southern crus. From the strong, structured 2010 vintage, this premier cru at 15-plus years should be entering a mature, harmonious window. Pinot Noir. Decant and enjoy over the next several years.
