Honest, well-priced Cote de Beaune from a ten-generation family domaine. Maillard Pere et Fils has farmed around Chorey-les-Beaune since the 1700s, working traditionally with fermentation in vats and aging in oak. This Aloxe-Corton comes from the Les Lollieres lieu-dit at the foot of the Corton hill, a village wine with the broader, firmer build that the Corton commune gives Pinot Noir. From the warm, generous 2009 vintage, now 15-plus years on, it should be drinking in a mature, mellow window. Decant and enjoy.
