Maillard Pere et Fils, a ten-generation family estate near Chorey-les-Beaune, farms this Aloxe-Corton from the Les Lollieres lieu-dit at the base of the Corton hill, giving a broader, firmer Pinot Noir than the lighter communes nearby. Traditional winemaking, vat fermentation, oak aging. The 2012 was a small, concentrated vintage, and at well over a decade old this should be drinking in a fine mature stride while keeping good freshness. Solid value Burgundy; decant and enjoy now.
