Domaine Michel Juillot has been one of the appellation's steadiest hands for decades, and Clos des Barraults ranks among its best sites — a premier cru on limestone-rich slopes that gives a Pinot Noir with genuine structure rather than just easy fruit. The 2023 is dark-fruited and firm, with a tannic frame that suggests it will be even better in a few years, though a decanter will get you most of the way there tonight. Expect black cherry, a little iron and crushed stone, and a savory finish that keeps pulling you back for another sip. This is serious Burgundy from an address plenty of people still haven't caught on to.
