Les Mitans sits at mid-slope on the Volnay hillside, where sandy-clay soils coax a particularly perfumed, floral expression from Pinot Noir. This is the most immediately seductive of Lafarge's premier crus — the one that greets you with rose petal and red fruit before the structure quietly announces itself. Frédéric Lafarge and daughter Clothilde farm the site biodynamically and age in old oak, letting the terroir speak without interference. The 2023 vintage brought freshness and precision across the Côte de Beaune, and Mitans captures that energy beautifully.
