A village Vosne from one of Premeaux's most careful hands. Vosne-Romanée is the most coveted address in the Côte de Nuits, and even at the village tier it's a wine that wears its DNA on its sleeve — that telltale Vosne perfume, that mineral lift. Patrice Rion built his domaine in 1990 with his wife Michèle; their son Maxime joined in 2005 and has been fully in charge since 2015, with a deft, traditionalist touch. 2023 brought generous but balanced reds across the Côte de Nuits, with the village wines drinking earlier than usual. Open over the next eight years for the Vosne perfume in full bloom.

"A blend of three parcels in Les Croix Blanche, Les Raviolle and Les Haut Beaumonts, the 2023 Vosne-Romanée Village is quite understated on the nose despite coaxing, with pretty blackcurrant and raspberry fruit eventually unfurling. The palate is nicely structured with gentle grip. A little candied fruit surfaces toward the slightly lactic finish, with dark chocolate and espresso slightly impeding the fruit at the moment. Enjoy this after a couple of years in bottle." —Neal Martin
