Ruchottes-Chambertin is the Grand Cru for Burgundy lovers who chase detail over density—and Mugneret-Gibourg absolutely nails it. Tucked just above Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, this vineyard gives one of the most refined, mineral-driven expressions of Pinot Noir in the Côte de Nuits, and the 2022 vintage brings that precision into perfect balance.

This is not a show-off Grand Cru. It’s fine, lifted, and incredibly nuanced—with aromas of cool red fruit, dried rose, forest herbs, and crushed stone, all wrapped in a texture that’s more silk thread than velvet. There’s structure here, no doubt, but it moves with elegance rather than weight.

Mugneret-Gibourg brings their signature touch: organic farming, whole-cluster fermentation, and a graceful hand with oak, allowing the terroir to lead. The 2022 shows the brightness and clarity of a balanced, low-intervention vintage, and it’s already compelling—but with the kind of quiet depth that will reward serious cellaring.

This is collector Burgundy with soul—perfect for aging, contemplation, or just savoring what happens when one of the region’s top domaines meets one of its most quietly powerful sites.

Decanter

D 97
"The Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes is an extraordinary wine with a laser-like focus to the bright blackberry fruit with notes of violets, earth and smoke. The texture is compact and chiselled but very dense, with firm tannins and an impressively persistent saline minerality on the palate. The grapes are from the domaine's 0.70-hectare parcel in Ruchottes du Bas; they are destemmed and gently fermented before ageing in cask (70% new). Give this five years before opening; the ultimate ageing potential is likely 40 to 50 years."

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
