Mature Nuits-Saint-Georges from a reliable family estate. Domaine Daniel Rion, based in Premeaux just south of Nuits, was built up by Daniel and his sons across the Cote de Nuits, with old vines selected for small, thick-skinned berries that give deep, structured wines. Les Lavieres is a Nuits-Saint-Georges climat, and this commune is known for sturdy, earthy, full-bodied Pinot Noir. The 2006 has nearly two decades on it now and should be drinking in a savory, resolved place. A great pour for lovers of traditional, mature red Burgundy. Decant and serve.
