A village-level Gigondas that drinks like a single-vineyard wine. "Aux Lieux-Dits" is Domaine Santa Duc's core blend — eight named parcels scattered across Gigondas, mostly Grenache (around 75%) with Mourvèdre, Syrah, and a splash of Cinsault filling in the structure. Benjamin Gras, the sixth-generation winemaker, has slowly moved the estate toward Stockinger foudres and terracotta amphorae for élevage; the result is Gigondas with all the warmth and garrigue you want, but a freshness and clarity you don't always get from the appellation. 2021 was a precision vintage in the Southern Rhône — cooler, more lifted — and this bottle wears it well. Red and dark fruit, lavender, wild herbs, dusty tannin. Drink now through the next decade.

Antonio Galloni

95 points

"Lurid ruby color. There are ripe red fruit, flora, incense and exotic spice qualities on the expansive, mineral-accented nose. Juicy, polished and alluringly sweet, this Gigondas displays seamless texture to its intense Chambord, cherry-cola, lavender pastille and Asian spice flavors, which convey a suave blend of power and delicacy. The mineral and floral notes carry through a strikingly long, precise finish that's given shape by delicate, well-knit tannins. Raised in a combination of Stockinger oak foudres and clay amphoras." —Josh Raynolds

Robert Parker

92 points

"Blended from eight sites on the plateau of Gigondas, the 2021 Gigondas Aux Lieux-Dits is a strong effort, with overtones of roses and garrigue to the cherry-berry notes. It's medium to full-bodied, ripe and silky in feel, with ample concentration and length." —Joe Czerwinski

Wine Spectator

90 points

"An inviting, lithe and perfumy version, offering notes of sweet cherry, wild strawberry and dried lavender, with white pepper and fresh minerality running from start to finish. This is high-toned and silky, with a supple frame, plus charred graphite and red tea tannins paving the way. Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault."
