Burghound

"From a .74 ha parcel. Slightly riper aromas features notes of plum, dark currant, violet, lilac, wet stone and a touch of forest floor character. The racy, delicious and intensely stony larger-bodied flavors that retain fine detail on the youthfully austere, compact and strikingly persistent finish. This beautifully understated effort could use better depth but it has an admirable track record of improving with bottle aging."

"The 2023 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru includes around 50% whole cluster. This has a very detailed bouquet with black fruit, crushed stone and touches of freshly rolled tobacco that come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied, ripe and generous with a confit-like entry and hints of black cherries, orange rind, marmalade and crushed stone. It moves toward a structured, tightly wound finish, with a hint of licorice on the aftertaste. This is superb."

Robert Parker

"Aromas of orange zest, dark berries, smoke and boot polish introduce the 2023 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, a medium to full-bodied, supple and dynamic wine that's suave, long and penetrating. The Trapet family has produced an attractive set 2023s. As readers will remember, there have been a host of changes at this address in recent years: in 2020, fully seven hectares of the domaine's holdings were converted both to échalas and to higher trellising stakes and wires, depending on the steepness of the slope. Since then, changes have been rolled out in other parcels too. Given the extent of Trapet's holdings in prime climats, that means that the walk from Morey-Saint-Denis to Gevrey-Chambertin suddenly looks rather different. In the cuverie, winemaking continues to be classical, with important percentages of whole clusters, followed by élevage in ever diminishing percentages of new oak, with foudres joining barrels in the cellar." —William Kelley

Decanter

"The delicious 2023 Latricières from Trapet has a deep blackberry fruit character with hints of violets, rosemary and a firm salty mineral underpinning. The texture is densely tannic and very firm. Pierre Trapet explains that this is because of the proximity to the cool winds of the Combe Grisard and to the abundance of limestone pebbles in the soil. Just about half of the grapes are fermented on native yeasts as whole clusters before ageing in cask (40% new)."
