Grand cru Corton at a grower's honest price. Corton's Le Rognet climat, on the eastern, Ladoix-facing flank of the great hill, is widely regarded as one of the finest parcels for red Corton. Xavier Durand took over his family's Comblanchien estate in 2009 and made an immediate impression, farming by lutte raisonnee, aging in barrel with no more than 25% new oak, and bottling unfiltered. The 2012 was a small, concentrated vintage well-suited to grand cru structure. At over a decade old this should be opening up but Corton rewards patience, so decant generously. Pinot Noir, grand cru.
