Drouhin-Laroze is one of Gevrey-Chambertin's quietly thrilling addresses — distinct from Beaune's Joseph Drouhin and now in the hands of the sixth generation, siblings Caroline and Nicolas Drouhin. The estate's eleven-and-a-half hectares are stacked unusually deep in Grand Cru — Musigny, Bonnes-Mares, Chambertin Clos de Beze among them — but the Gevrey-Chambertin Dix Climats is the village-level entry that introduces the house style: a blend, as the name suggests, from ten parcels across the village. Vinified with a touch of whole cluster, gentle extraction, and judicious oak in their cold vaulted cellars, the 2023 is fragrant and approachable young — brisk blackberry and redcurrant, a touch of iris and licorice — with the precision that runs through the entire Drouhin-Laroze lineup.

"The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Dix Climats comes from ten climats, funnily enough. Each is vinified separately with 20% whole bunch. It has a brisk bouquet with nicely defined blackberry and redcurrant fruit and just a touch of iris flower in the background. The palate is ripe on the entry with pastille-like purity, a little candied in style, with a dab of licorice toward the finish. Fine." —Neal Martin
